Capital of Poland

Warsaw and Central Poland

Warsaw, the capital of Poland, is an extraordinary city where influences of Western and Eastern European cultures cross. It is here that historic buildings, palaces, churches and architectural complexes were totally destroyed during World War II and later reconstructed with great care from 18th-century paintings and photographs, giving Warsaw the nickname "the Phoenix City". During World War II, the Germans established here the largest ghetto in occupied Europe, whose destruction and resistance are deeply rooted in the city's consciousness to this day. Nowadays, the historic Old Town is contrasted with the soaring skyscrapers of a city that is driven by the pursuit of prosperity and is in constant development. Warsaw is full of surprises and offers a wide range of museums, historic sites, green spaces, cultural and artistic events and local cuisine.

Beyond the capital, Central Poland reveals a fascinating blend of history, industrial heritage, and lush landscapes. At its heart lies Łódź, famous for its unique transformation from a 19th-century textile empire into a vibrant modern hub of cinema, art, and striking red-brick post-industrial architecture. Nearby, historic cities like Toruń—a UNESCO-listed medieval jewel and the birthplace of Nicolaus Copernicus—enchant visitors with pristine Gothic architecture and centuries-old gingerbread traditions. The region is also home to serene natural escapes, including the primeval woods of Kampinos National Park. Dotted with romantic manor houses, peaceful countryside, and historic towns like Łowicz, Central Poland offers an authentic glimpse into the nation's rich traditions, folklore, and dynamic evolution.
