Day 1: Warsaw
Evening: Arrival in Warsaw. Meeting with our English-speaking tour guide. Transfer to the accommodation and check-in. Dinner.
Day 2: Warsaw - Old Town - Warsaw Ghetto
Morning: A guided city tour through the rebuilt Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which brings the city’s history to life. A visit to the Palace of Culture, an example of socialist architecture. From its observation deck, there is a panoramic view over the city and the modern city centre.
Afternoon: A guided walk through the former ghetto area, the largest Nazi ghetto during World War II, with 450,000 Jews confined within it: the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes and the Umschlagplatz, which commemorate the courage and suffering. A visit to the Warsaw Uprising Museum.
Evening: Dinner.
Day 3: Warsaw - Royal Castle - Łazienki Park
Morning: A visit to the majestically reconstructed Royal Castle, which has regained its former splendour after the destruction of World War II.
Afternoon: At leisure. We highly recommend a walk through the Łazienki Park or a visit to one of Warsaw's museums, such as the Chopin Museum.
Evening: A Chopin concert in a historic setting in the Old Town, followed by dinner.
Day 4: Warsaw - Częstochowa - Krakow
Morning: Transfer by coach to Krakow, with a stopover in Częstochowa. A visit to the famous Pauline Monastery, an important pilgrimage site in Poland with the revered icon of the Black Madonna. A guided tour of the monastery includes the Knight’s Hall, the Treasury, the Armoury and a museum where Lech Wałęsa’s Nobel Peace Prize is displayed.
Afternoon: Arrival in Krakow. Check-in at the accommodation. An initial tour of the historic old town.
Evening: Dinner.
Day 5: Krakow - Old Town - Jewish quarter
Morning: An introduction to the rich history of the royal city of Kraków via a guided walk through the Old Town. Highlights include the Main Market Square, the Jagiellonian University, and St. Mary's Basilica with its magnificent Veit Stoss altar.
Afternoon: A visit to the historic district of Kazimierz, which offers insights into Kraków's Jewish heritage. Numerous well-preserved synagogues and the medieval Jewish cemetery tell the story of a turbulent past.
Evening: Dinner in a Jewish restaurant, accompanied by a Klezmer concert.
Day 6: Krakow/Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial
Morning and afternoon: A free day to explore the city independently. We suggest asking the tour guide for recommendations.
Optional: For those interested in the history of the Second World War, we offer an organized trip to the former concentration and extermination site Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Evening: Dinner.
Day 7: Krakow - Wawel Castle - Wieliczka Salt Mine
Morning: A guided visit to the majestic Wawel Royal Castle with its collection of precious Jagiellonian tapestries (Arrasy wawelskie in Polish), followed by a visit to the Wawel Cathedral, a site of great historical significance not only as a coronation church but also as the final resting place of Polish kings.
Afternoon: Transfer to Wieliczka. A guided visit to the medieval Wieliczka Salt mine, a unique attraction of European industrial culture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located around 10 kilometres from Kraków, promises a fascinating underground experience.
Evening: A dinner together, followed by a concert at the Philharmonic or a performance at the opera house.
