For almost a thousand years, Poland was a neighbour of Hungary, which at that time included Slovak territory. There was never a war along this border. We shared kings, saints and national heroes. We raised toasts with the same Hungarian wine and shared the same history. Perhaps that is why we understand the Hungarians better than anyone else, despite their language remaining forever unknown to us.
