Krakow – city of culture and history – the former capital of Poland, spiritual and cultural heart of the country, is considered one of the most attractive cities in Europe. It is also referred to as the City of Kings and Saints. Here is located the oldest university in Poland. Krakow is a true jewel full of artistic treasures and historic buildings. This magnificent city offers a royal experience for your Rotary Club trip.

Day 1: Krakow - Old Town

Morning: Arrival at Krakow Balice or Katowice Pyrzowice airport. Welcome by our tour guide. Transfer to the hotel and check-in, followed by the glass of wine/beer. Time for relax. Lunch on your own.
Afternoon: Walk around the main Square surrounded with magnificent houses, palaces with and one of the city’s most important church St Mary's basilica with the Veit Stoss' wooden triptych and large stone crucifix. From one of the St. Mary's church towers every hour, the trumpeters call the traditional call that signalled the Tatar invasion in the 12th century. The tour ends at the Brama Floriańska (gate) - the most charming place in Krakow. Next door there is the Czartoryskich Museum which houses Leonardo da Vinci's renowned Lady with an Ermine.
Evening: Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 2: Krakow - Wawel Castle - Jewish quarter

Morning: A visit to the impressive Wawel Castle. An exclusive tour entitled City of Kings, City of Saints that starts in the royal chambers, with special focus on the precious collection of Flemish tapestries. Afterwards, a visit to Wawel Cathedral, which is of great historical significance as the coronation and burial church of the Polish kings. 
Afternoon: A fascinating tour through the former Jewish quarter of Kazimierz. This provides insights into the eventful history and cultural heritage of this unique district.
Evening: The day concludes with a delightful dinner at a Jewish restaurant, enhanced by an authentic Klezmer concert that brings the unique atmosphere of this special place.

Day 3: Krakow - National Museum / Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial

Morning: Option to choose:
Programme No. 1: The great artists of Kraków
A guided tour of the exhibition "Polish Art of the 20th Century" at the National Museum offers fascinating insights into the work of important figures from Kraków's art scene. From Wyspiański at the beginning of the 20th century, through Kantor in the second half, to Nowosielski in the present day, outstanding works and biographies are presented.
Programme No. 2: Auschwitz – Birkenau camps
An impressive trip to the Auschwitz Memorial Site offers an intensive guided tour of the grounds of the former concentration and extermination camp located in Oświęcim. This moving experience provides a profound understanding of the history and the tragedy of the victims.
Afternoon: Leisure time.
Evening: The gala dinner evening in one of the restaurants in the city.

Day 4: Krakow - Wieliczka Salt Mine

Morning: An exciting journey of discovery awaits in the unique salt mine town of Wieliczka, an important testament to Europe’s industrial heritage from the Middle Ages. The impressive underground chambers and artistic sculptures reveal the history and significance of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Midday: Lunch in an underground restaurant.
Afternoon/evening: Transfer to the airport. Return journey.

    No, the flight ticket is not included in the price, but we are happy to assist you with arranging it for your group.
  • Is it possible to extend/change the stay?
    Yes, the programme can be adjusted to your needs. 
  • Where does the tour begin and end?
    Arrival: You will be welcomed by our tour guide upon arrival at either Kraków John Paul II International Airport (KRK) in Balice or Katowice Airport (KTW) in Pyrzowice (depending on your flight arrangements). Transfers to your hotel in Kraków are included.
    Departure: The tour concludes on Day 4 following an afternoon/evening transfer back to the airport after the trip to the Wieliczka Salt Mine.
