This magnificent late-seventeenth-century church is a true jewel of Baroque architecture in Wroclaw. It was designed by the Italian architect Teodor Moretti, while Mateusz Biener and Jan Knoll were entrusted with its construction. The church was consecrated on 30 July 1698. Its opulent interior, considered the most sumptuous of its kind in the city, immerses visitors in a world of illusionistic painting and delicate stucco decoration. The walls are adorned with masterful frescoes from the period, complemented by elegant pilasters and finely designed cornices that give the space depth and vitality. The original seventeenth-century furnishings have also survived in remarkably good condition and bear witness to the site’s rich history. Situated in the heart of the Old Town, only a few steps from the main building of the University of Wroclaw, the church now has a dual role: it is both the spiritual centre of the university community and an atmospheric concert venue.
