The Tatras, Poland’s highest mountain range, rise only 100 kilometres south of Krakow and captivate visitors with their impressive natural scenery. Artists such as Stanisław Witkiewicz helped create the characteristic “Zakopane Style” at the end of the 19th century, combining Art Nouveau influences with traditional timber architecture. Notable sights include the old wooden church and the historic cemetery at picturesque Pęksowy Brzyzek.
