St Catherine’s Church

In the lively Kazimierz district, only about 600 metres from the historic Old Town, stands an impressive gem of Gothic architecture: a church that forms part of the historic Augustinian monastery. This fourteenth-century architectural masterpiece is one of the most important examples of Gothic architecture in Poland.

The church impresses not only with its imposing size, but also with its outstanding acoustics, which make it a popular concert venue. Large choirs and orchestras in particular find it an ideal setting for performances in a unique atmosphere.

The interior has a contemplative, soaring character. Its finely designed stellar vault and varied architectural details create an atmosphere of depth and elegance. The Gothic cloisters of the Augustinian monastery immediately beside the church are also well worth seeing.
