Follow the trail of Günter Grass’s famous Danzig Trilogy. Discover the city through the eyes of the Nobel Prize-winning writer, whose past as a member of the 10th SS Panzer Division “Frundsberg” became public many years later. This special walk explores historic streets and literary locations associated with figures such as Oskar Matzerath from “The Tin Drum” and Tulla Pokriefke from “Dog Years”.
The route leads through the lively district of Langfuhr, now Wrzeszcz, past Günter Grass’s birthplace and to the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, where Oskar was baptised in the novel. You will then visit the Conradinum, a long-established school that existed during the period of the Free City of Danzig and remains an important educational institution. The tour concludes with a visit to Brzeźno beach, where you can enjoy the sound of the Baltic Sea and the fresh sea air.
