Alcohol in Poland
Polish regulations prohibit drinking alcohol, including beer, in public places. Violations may result in a fine. Alcohol may of course be consumed in licensed restaurants, bars and designated outdoor seating areas, including beer gardens around the Market Square.

Smoking – where is it permitted?
Smoking is prohibited in public buildings, public transport, cafés and restaurants except in specifically designated smoking areas, and in many other public spaces. Restrictions also apply around public transport stops. Please observe the signs and smoke only in permitted areas.

Emergency numbers
The most important emergency number in Poland is 112, the Europe-wide emergency number connecting callers with the police, fire brigade or ambulance service.

Fire brigade: 998
Municipal police: 986

Police stations in Wroclaw
In the event of theft or another emergency, contact the police immediately. The station at ul. Podwale 31-33 in the city centre operates around the clock. Other stations are located at ul. Trzemeska 12 in Stare Miasto and ul. Grunwaldzka 6 in Śródmieście.

City information centres – a useful first stop
Wroclaw's tourist information centres provide information about current events, attractions and practical matters, as well as free brochures in several languages. Staff can answer individual questions and offer advice for your stay.
