The Auschwitz Museum attracts an impressive 1.5 million visitors each year, and access to this important place of remembrance is therefore strictly regulated. In particular, access to the former Auschwitz I camp and its permanent exhibition, where visits to the memorial begin, is limited because of the confined original buildings and safety requirements.
During the main season, it is essential to reserve both the guided tour and admission tickets well in advance, ideally several months before the planned visit.
We recommend that all customers and partners inform us of their intended date and approximate group size as early as possible. Even if the details are not yet final, an early reservation makes planning considerably easier. It is simpler to cancel a booking than to cancel an entire trip at short notice because no visit is available.
Individual Visitors (1–9 People)
Admission to the museum is possible only with a valid ticket. Tickets are free of charge and can be reserved for a specific date and time and printed through the official website at www.visit.auschwitz.org.
Independent visitors may explore the museum using a printed museum guide available from bookshops or the museum kiosk, priced between PLN 15 and PLN 25 depending on its length. Alternatively, numerous paid guided tours are offered each day in different languages and provide a more detailed experience.
Important: From 1 April to 31 October, between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., the exhibition at Auschwitz I can be visited only as part of a guided tour. Tickets for these tours can also be booked through www.visit.auschwitz.org. Independent visits are possible before 10:00 a.m. or after 3:00 p.m. This restriction does not apply to the site of Auschwitz II-Birkenau.
Please note: During the main season, admission tickets are usually sold out at the site. We therefore recommend reserving tickets online in advance.
Groups (10 or More People)
Groups are required to book a qualified museum guide. Reservations are made through the official website at www.visit.auschwitz.org.
Important: The number of available guides is limited. To secure your preferred date during the main season, book the tour several weeks in advance.
Special tours, such as one-day or two-day study visits, can be booked through the “Non-standard reservation” section of the website. Registration and a user account are required.
Please note: After making a reservation, you will receive confirmation and an invoice. Payment must be made within 72 hours, otherwise the booking will be cancelled.
Once payment has been received, you will receive another email confirming payment and containing the admission tickets. Print the reservation confirmation and present it at the museum reception.
You will receive one ticket for every registered participant. The group size is entered during the online booking process. If the number of participants may increase, we recommend entering a slightly higher figure, as adding participants later can be difficult.
Luggage Information
Items of luggage larger than 30 × 20 × 10 cm must be left in the luggage storage facility before the visit begins. Visitors carrying larger items will unfortunately not be admitted to the museum grounds.
